Srinagar, Nov 02 (KNO): The Durbar Move offices reopened in the winter capital, Jammu, on Monday after closing in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Friday and Saturday. The Civil Secretariat, which houses the offices of the Chief Minister, Ministers and senior bureaucrats, resumed functioning in Jammu as part of the Durbar Move. On his arrival in the civil secretariat, this morning, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, as per the details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), received a Guard of Honour from a contingent of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on the occasion. The Durbar Move is the biannual shifting of the Civil Secretariat and other government offices between Srinagar, the summer capital, and Jammu, the winter capital. From May to October, these offices function from Srinagar, while during the winter months they operate from Jammu. The practice was introduced in 1872 by Maharaja Ranbir Singh and has remained a distinctive feature of Jammu and Kashmir's administrative system—(KNO)
